I have to gush for a second! This is the entry that Andy entered in the Tart Deco contest I posted last week. (I asked him to enter the contest because I really, really, really wanted to win!)

Guess what!

He won!!

He is so amazing to post such a sweet entry (the question was: Why do you like living vintage?) - my heart was so melted by what he wrote…. and he actually won by a random drawing! I am ecstatic!!

Meanwhile, check out Tart Deco - I really love this blog!

This amazing Before and After comes straight from… MY MOM. She has spent 3 weeks completely redoing her fireplace - all by herself.

We watched “Every Little Step” tonight. (Don’t I have the greatest boyfriend???)

It. Was. So. Good.

I love musicals and theater and it all started with A Chorus Line. I saw it when I was a kid and my mom got us hats so we could learn the “One” dance and practice in front of the TV in the living room. I LOVE THE MOVIE. (I haven’t really seen the stage version, sadly!)

Every Little Step is a documentary that takes us back to 1974 and shows us how A Chorus Line developed… and it follows the auditions for the Broadway revival. I never knew A Chorus Line was based on real people with real stories! That makes everything so much more powerful. You get to hear some of the original tapes from when the creator was doing interviews with performers. So awesome. We even see the original Connie and Cassie!

It was like going back in time and capturing even more magic that I associate with A Chorus Line. I loved it. If you like A Chorus Line, be sure to see it.

(i’m very sleepy so this is not the most well thought out blog in the world!)

Time Travel On The Cheap

January 21, 2010

By Robert Krulwich

How many times have I wandered into a room and wondered what was it like right here, right where I’m standing, 50 years ago? 70 years ago? 100 years ago?

Somebody knows. Among the hundreds of millions of old photos crammed into shoe boxes and albums, somebody somewhere has an old photo of this very room.

And if by some magic I could fetch that photo, I could hold it in front of me and see the Room That Was while standing in the Room That Is. With a flick of my eye I could travel across time from now to then. This is time travel on the cheap. Here’s an outdoor version.
